Family of 5. Need a new car as our short range EV is just not practical for us.
Needs:
Decent boot space (currently a Nissan Leaf so anything similar sized or bigger would be great)
Would like a high driving position
Decent safety features
Ideally get 3 across the back, but eldest coming up to not needing a full HBB

Does anyone have recommendations? My head is just swimming on auto trader and I can’t make any decisions.
Budget is 15K cash - would rather buy outright than do PCP.

Have had a normal car for a while so I would like something a bit nicer and bigger.

We bought an xc60 of that vintage with only 33,000 miles on the clock 2,years ago

If you bought our XC60 now as an example (not that I'm selling it) it would be around 15k, great Nick, 54,000 miles on clock and full service history -we paid around £3000 more but it's now 2 years older- so about £15k would be right

Yes, sadly I think that’s my issue. I know that they are great cars, but for that kind of money the mileage is quite high on them or they are quite old.

So, dream car but too expensive: XC60 and defo priced out of XC90
Ruled out because of reliability: Land Rover anything
In the running:
Nissan Qashqai
Skoda Octavia (but would prefer higher up car)
Kia Sportage
Hyundai Tucson

Any others?

I looked at a Mitsubishi Outlander @Elle200 but it looked a bit, well, basic. Perhaps it was just that model. A previous would be great actually as I’ve got solar so it would be worth it for us.

Maybe the Sorrento might be an even better option to the Sportage? It's a bit bigger

RAV4 self-charging Hybrid (or plug/hyrbid in but those are more expensive). Although I don't know if you would get one for 15k.

We’ve literally just bought one of these - £17k for a 2019 plate with 66,000

I'm going to throw a Mazda cx5 into the ring - the diesel drives really well and very good driving position. Probably can get a 17/18 plate maybe for the budget.

Not sure about 3 car seats but definitely roomy in the back as we've had a car seat and 2 adults in ours.

Ah fair enough, that's good to know. I love ours! So much room and the mpg is amazing.

We recently got a Citroen C5 Aircross. Massive boot and three full seats in the back, which is surprisingly rare.
