Nicotine replacement therapy that ISNT vaping?

I’ve tried vaping and it does succeed in getting me to stop smoking, but I find it negatively affects me in other ways that smoking doesn’t - mainly seems to trigger flare ups of IBS symptoms if I vape too much!

What have you tried that’s worked? What about those ‘heated tobacco’ things? Are they called Heets or something?
Or any other tips on giving up please? I don’t want to keep damaging my health so badly!

I tried gum, but didnt like the taste
Patches worked but got itchy. I think the upper arm or buttock worked the best. I stopped 20yrs ago and never smoked since, so did work.

I’ve thought of trying patches but I think I would miss having something physical to do with my hands?

If you're missing something to do with your hands then an inhalator might work for you. It's a plastic tube that you put nicotine cartridges in and suck on.

I gave up smoking using both that and patches. Something to fiddle with, that replicated the act of smoking, really worked for me. Its a quick hit too.

It's been a decade now so I think I'm good but if I ever need a cigarette again I will go to a pharmacy and buy an inhalator instead.

Take up knitting or gaming or something where you can quickly use your hands and distract yourself whilst also popping a gum.

The inhalator is quite good for the hands/oral side of it. It looks like you're sucking a tampon, but hey. I did quit using that and patches. You can get a bit of a taste from it but it's not vape smoke, so you can use it at work, on public transport etc. you can get it free from the GP. But use patches as well.

You can get a necklace which goes with a patch or similar, for the nicotine, which you suck through, just air. Which helps with the physical side of things.

I’ve cut down to 4 or 5 a day but am not ready to give up yet.
I’ve tried: vaping, spray, lozenges, and gum.
Out all of these the one that I get on with best, and seems to work the best on any cravings is gum (I get the Superdrug stuff)

Now that is a sight 😆
