Just reminding everyone with kids who have recently turned 18 to make sure they are registered to vote.

The deadline is midnight tonight.

Did both my older ones (18 and 17). All you need is their NINOs. They eldest kept meaning to do it but the forgot.

You have til midnight!!!

Fidgety31 · 18/06/2024 22:11

If they are old enough to vote and interested enough to vote then they will register … they are adults now.

I agree but my 18-year-old is so stuck in his A-levels that it was a stretch of organisation too far. The 17 year old is the most disorganised person I have ever met (ADHD on speed) and though very interested in politics can't even remember his NINo let alone where he has put it.

Well, ironically, after posting this, mine has just burst into my bedroom saying ‘Mum, where’s my NINO? I meant to sort it and I’ve got 5 minutes!!’

Talk about Last Minute Larry… kids eh?

@PiggieWig

I don't understand why you were posting originally and hadn't even checked your own kid had done it???

PiggieWig · 19/06/2024 00:04

He told me he had… he took his NINO off then forgot… till just before the deadline.
I can guarantee he isn’t the only disorganised 18 year old in the world.

My 18yo is registered.
trouble is, there’s nobody he wants to vote for

PiggieWig · 19/06/2024 00:10

Well yes, that’s the next hurdle. I quite liked this quote I saw earlier. I suppose all they can do is go for the nearest option, or the least bad in their eyes.

Don’t vote, then don’t complain about the state of things!
