To ask about SE London 11+ for grammar schools

Posting for traffic, so apologies it’s not an AIBU.

So we live in SE London (in Greenwich borough, but next to the Kent postcodes) and my daughter is few years off applying for secondary school.

How does the whole thing work? I know of kids who are in year 6 at my daughter’s school, who are going to Dartford Grammar, do they not have catchment areas?

Is it true that most people tutor for grammar exams, or does the school put students forward for the exams?

I’m not originally from a grammar school area, and I have no idea how it all works. My daughter is currently working at greater depth, so I guess this is an option to explore at some point.
