😮 I am shocked. Do people really pay these prices?

I just paid £1450 for blinds from Hillary's and they are SHOCKING! the fitter has left the chain snapped in half so one doesn't close, they are poorly measured and need completely re-doing and the upstairs blinds aren't even the ones we ordered. Avoid Hillary's like the plague. I've just read someone else's review that said, their Hillary's fitter told them he collected the blind from a place where they cost a fiver!

That's insane. Have you complained and taken photos?

Are Hillary’s run on a franchise basis? They always seem to be really expensive.

Ive found the best way if you can’t fit them yourself is to get a local “one man band” kind of set up.

I think we were about £2000 for the whole house, but we have several huge (over 3m wide) windows, and most of the blinds are the white wood effect Venetians, rather than the standard 25mm slats

Yeah, they gave me a call on WhatsApp to look at the issues and tried to argue with me that there was nothing wrong with it. Eventually they agreed to send someone out to re-measure them and fit the ones we ordered.

Yeah they must be because he didn't come with any branding, fitter turned up in his wife's mini complaining that he could fit the blinds in the car.

Omg 😲 I'm so shocked at this too! Terrible.

I got M2M blinds from next. 3 x 6' windows and a 1' window, all full length. Chose weighted not chained at the bottom. They were £240, but we did have to fit them ourselves. Absolutely fab customer service - I mucked up the measurements twice! Blinds are fab,

ApolloandDaphne · 17/06/2024 19:53

The service I got from Hillary's was fantastic and I am pleased with my blind.

I fitted mine myself, had them cut to size from Dunelm and my front room bay window cost me around £300. I was apprehensive about fitting them but it was easy to do and even went on to fit the upstairs bedrooms 💪

MrsWhites · 17/06/2024 19:59

I got Venetian blinds for 5 big windows, 1 x 3 part bay window and 1 Laura Ashley Roman blind from blinds to go last year but just short of £1k.

You do have to fit them yourself but the measuring and fitting processes is very well explained and saved a fortune compared to the likes of Hilary’s.

I found Hillary's to be awful, even at the sales stage. The rep was rude and unhelpful, so we went to a local company. We paid £1500 for perfect fit blinds (6 separately operating panes) on a large bay window.

If that's not what you're looking for, we got Venetians in the kitchen for £240 inclusive of fitting - three windows, one largish window and two small.

In the study, a sunscreen roller blind was £80 including fitting. The window is smaller than the kitchen one, but quite deep (it's a Victorian house).

So much depends on what sort of blind you want, and the size of the window. I'd definitely go local though.

Kago2790 · 17/06/2024 20:05

The cost is in the fitting. You will save a lot of you can fit them yourself. Blinds2go have clickfit which you don't even have to drill or screw. Take the measurement insurance in case the size is not right. Less than £100 per blind... depending on size.
