So quick back story, DH and I have been looking to purchase a house for a few years now. Very rarely a house we like comes on the market but when it does we are always outbidded due to the market being so competitive at the moment.

So anyway back in January we went to view a house, it was our dream home we both loved everything about it. It was just perfect, extremely close to where we currently are so no need to change schools, nursery's etc.

When we went to view the property we asked about moving out dates etc and the owners told us they had purchased another property so would be moving in April as that is when their house becomes available that was fine so we put an offer in and unfortunately ended up 3rd out of 4 offers.

I pass by the house every morning on my commute to school, nursery and work and every night on my way home and i can't help but notice that the owners are still living in the property.

Now this is where my AIBC comes in, The owners said they were moving April we are now 2 months past April and they are still there, This was our dream home and I'm just wondering if i ABC for thinking of posting a letter through their door asking if the sale fell through and if they are still looking to sell?

Probably sounds stalkerish but let me know if anyone has done something like this before or if i really am crazy and potentially going to end up with some sort of restraining order :/

It’s most likely that the sale is just delayed or they might have changed their minds.

id probably try ringing the Estate Agents first, just to sound them out.

Canyou look on Right Move to see if it’s down as Sold or Sale Agreed?

I’d ask whichever estate agent it was listed with first if they’re aware of the sale having fallen through, though anyone on the ball would have contacted unsuccessful bidders, I imagine. Or at least re-advertised and a FOR SALE sign back up. But no, not unreasonable to ask, though it’s possible things are just crawling on longer than planned, their new house fell through etc.

@Imgoingtobefree It was on the website as SSTC but now i can't find that property at all which is strange.

@IsabelleHuppert I had thought that would happen also tbh but nothing. I'm probably just clutching at straws lol hoping that something has fell through so i could be in with a chance. One can dream.

Give the letter a try, it's worth a shot. My BIL bought a house, after a couple months someone knocked on the door to say they had wanted to buy the place but hadn't manged to get their finances in order to do so and they had missed out but they loved the house and would buy it from him for what he paid plus an extra 20K for the hassle, he sold it to them and moved again. So you just never know.
