Who was BU here?

Local swimming centre with the slow/medium/fast lanes out for people to do lengths. Also on the sign for each lane type, is the direction of clockwise/counterclockwise and a reminder to stay in the lane/keep the direction etc.

There are two people in one of the lanes, but they are swimming in the opposite direction to the one indicted on the sign.

A new swimmer enters the lane and starts swimming, but in the direction indicated on the sign.

Who is being unreasonable here?

The new swimmer was being unreasonable. I find those signs confusing and would follow the existing swimmers’ lead.

RaininSummer · 16/06/2024 16:51

Surely the tits not following the instructions.

PlipPlapPlop · 16/06/2024 16:52

The ones not following the instructions imho.

HoldingTheDoor · 16/06/2024 16:53

The swimmers who weren’t following instructions were in the wrong imo.

SilentSilhouette · 16/06/2024 16:53

Follow the arrows. Clockwise or anticlockwise. It's not exactly rocket science!

The two going the wrong way are clearly in the wrong.

beckybarefoot · 16/06/2024 16:53

the ones not following the directional signs.. you have no idea how annoying it is too swimmers when people go the wrong way!

HeddaGarbled · 16/06/2024 16:54

the tits not following the instructions

Ahem 🙋‍♀️ Aka, spacially challenged.

TerrorAustralis · 16/06/2024 16:57

The two going the wrong way are clearly wrong, but if I had clocked them, I probably wouldn’t enter the lane and start swimming against them. I swim regularly and am regularly annoyed by idiots that I have to share the pool with, but swimming head on into someone is a stroke to far for me.

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 16/06/2024 18:16

Obviously the two going the opposite way to the signs were wrong (although may have been confused by the signs)

But the one going in and deciding to make a point by swimming the other way was also wrong. They're causing a problem when really it didn't need to be one, there's no reason not to follow those already swimming other than being awkward

Soboredofdiettalk · 16/06/2024 18:19

They were wrong to start swimming the wrong way, but getting in and swimming at people to make a point is a bit confrontational.

So overall, I'd say the swimmer getting in and swimming the right way is the most U
