To be experiencing these symptoms

So, I have decided to stop taking OTC pain killers, I think they are quite strong as they do make me feel slightly relaxed and maybe become reliant on that feeling. I wasn't taking over the recommended dose but I have been taking them everyday for a while for back pain. Since stopping taking them I have felt quite unwell, is this withdrawal?

I have just checked the packet and they are Co-codamol 8/500 tablets

Unwell in what way?

Codeine can be very addictive.

Yeah that's what withdrawal is like, flu ×1000. How long were you taking them?

PeonySeasons · 16/06/2024 13:39

How many of the tablets have you been taking each day and for how long? It does sound like codeine withdrawal which suggests you've been taking a lot.

Yep, that sounds like withdrawal.

You may need to see a doctor and withdraw from them gradually - it can make you very unwell. How long have you been taking codeine?

I'd go speak to the gp you may need to taper your dose or something but they'll be happy to help you

I have been taking about 6-8 a day and I do think it has become a habit
