To wonder why there’s a need to make smug comments?

Someone I work with who I very rarely see since Covid and now they work remote, however she was in the office today.

I was talking to a different colleague who was making a joke about a bad online dating story when colleague leans over (she was not involved in the conversation) and says “I don’t think I’ll be able to relate to that” and then gives us a long list of all the nice things her partner does for her.

Genuinely happy for her she has what sounds like a nice partner. But is there really any need to be smug about it?

I assume she's annoying in general? So ignorant to insert herself into the convo like that!

That's okay, she wasn't talking to you! That should've been the response.

Some people just need to truth a conversation to themselves. I remember a colleague like that. Two other colleagues were discussing a town nearby that is really nice and she kept saying ‘I’ve never actually been!’ Firstly they weren’t speatg to her and why is she joining a conversation when she had no input?
