I don’t have a bad nose.

Topic of cosmetic surgery at work, I had a rhinoplasty done 2 years ago, before I even worked at this company.

Colleague said I’d never get anything done because I’m too particular with my face. Also I don’t have a bad nose.

Aibu to think as much as you do you and if you’re happy with your features that’s amazing. There’s really no need for comments like that?

You’re overthinking it too much! Good for her she wouldn’t mess with her face and if she has a nose she’s happy with then lucky for her and good for her. Why do you care ? To get a nose job you obviously wasn’t happy with your own and that’s Your issue not someone else’s now or then !

Roundroundthegarden · 14/06/2024 13:25

Oh why do people go looking and digging for offence. She was talking about what she thinks, and unless you feel extremely insecure about your decision then why would you be offended.

CammyChameleon · 14/06/2024 13:25

If you didn't have a nose that you thought was "bad" in some way (whether it was breathing issues or looks) then you wouldn't have gone through surgery to change it.

It's not up to others to fake insecurity for your sake.

Ugov · 14/06/2024 13:27

Presumably you did think you had a "bad" nose if you had it done for cosmetic reasons? If you didn't, she wasn't talking about you.

FUBAR77 · 14/06/2024 13:28

Try; Her opinion of you is none of your business.

All better now.

BeardedLodger · 14/06/2024 13:28

Anything nose related is presumably a big deal to you hence the surgery.

Most of us don't give it a second thought.

Ginkypig · 14/06/2024 13:29

Colleague seems to be giving an opinion about themselves not making a judgment on other’s choice so I’m unsure why your offended.

I feel the same, although I’m currently waiting on a surgery to fix damage to my nose but don’t want to change the shape or size and it’s big! Others probably would want it changed but it’s mine and I accept it just the way it is in all its bigness 😄

Aquamarine1029 · 14/06/2024 13:32

This is definitely a you problem. She didn't even say anything negative about people who have surgery, she was just speaking about her personal feelings. You certainly seem to have unresolved issues about your rhinoplasty.

ManchesterLu · 14/06/2024 13:34

You're obviously sensitive about your nose, or you'd never have had surgery. Your colleague was giving their opinion, which is what you do in a discussion. Nothing wrong here - you're overthinking.

Deebee90 · 14/06/2024 13:35

She didn’t say anything bad you are overthinking it. I’d make the same comment , I’m happy with my face and looks and don’t see the need for surgery.

Mercurial123 · 14/06/2024 13:38

Seriously, OP? If you haven't mentioned having a nose job, then your colleague wouldn't know that you underwent cosmetic surgery.

Being happy with your appearance and not wanting to alter it is a good thing.

MrsElsa · 14/06/2024 13:41

People are allowed to say what they think without it being related to you in any way. HTH

AmiShitsaline · 14/06/2024 14:00

I think it’s kind of saying she may think differently if she had a ‘bad’ nose. So she wouldn’t want to mess with her face but can understand people fixing their nose if they are unhappy with it.

AthenaBasil · 14/06/2024 14:06

Definitely a you problem. People can be so sensitive that’s why I find it hard to share my opinion on somethings because they’ll act like you. She’s just talking about herself and not dictating what others should do or feel.

SugarCakes · 14/06/2024 14:14

Unsolved issues about my rhinoplasty? 😂😂😂

No I love my nose and had an incredible doctor. It wasn’t a bad nose originally either, apart from a slight droop in my columella, which frankly most people wouldn’t have a clue about. During my initial consultations with various doctors they agreed it was an issue they could see because their eye is trained for it but a regular person wouldn’t.

OP posts:
BobbyBiscuits · 14/06/2024 14:24

That's her opinion. She wouldn't be bothered getting it and doesn't dislike her nose.
I fail to see what's so offensive about that. Do you want everyone to say they either want it or have already had rhinoplasty? You don't need to talk about such things if it's going to offend you.
You had it done years ago. For your own reasons. Forget what anyone else wants or has.

whyhavetheygotsomany · 14/06/2024 14:45

Why did you put yourself through that If it wasn't a bad nose and no one would have notice a slight drool ? Mmmmm

YellowHairband · 14/06/2024 14:59

It wasn’t a bad nose originally either, apart from a slight droop in my columella, which frankly most people wouldn’t have a clue about.

But presumably you had enough of a negative feeling about it to decide to have it changed?

I think you're reading too much into it - she just meant she doesn't have enough of a negative feeling about her nose to have it altered.

Yozzer87 · 14/06/2024 15:05

I don't understand why you've taken her comments to heart. She wasn't saying you had a bad nose beforehand. She was saying she doesn't have a bad nose so doesn't think it needs surgical improvement.

sweetpickle2 · 14/06/2024 15:13

Kindly OP... get a grip.

kezzykicks · 14/06/2024 15:19

She was just talking about herself. I wouldn't consider surgery unless I really hated something about myself as it's a big deal for me so she may have thought the same. I know some people have surgery on their nose for medical reasons though.

Floorbard · 14/06/2024 15:21

Because she wanted to?

Aallvtirin · 14/06/2024 16:26

Sorry I think your being really oversensitive. She was talking about herself and not personally attacking your past/present nose. I think you're seeking to be be offended here.

Well duh. Most people don’t get surgery because they are bored.

But objectively is wasn’t a “bad nose”

OP posts:
sweetpickle2 · 14/06/2024 16:29

"objectively is wasn’t a “bad nose”" according to who? Is there a set of guidelines somewhere that I've missed?

You didn't like it, hence it was a bad nose to you. She's talking about her own nose- not yours- and thinks her isn't a bad nose.

I don't see how the two are linked and frankly you are being ridiculous.
