To hate my house with these bugs

In March we had adult carpet beetles in our bedroom, then saw larvae on our bed, then a beetle in lounge then one in conservatory. We steamed, hoovered, clean like absolutely bitches for ages and it got to the point I felt comfortable again. Then this week I've seen two larvae in our bathroom.
We've checked loft, looked everywhere and can't see anymore. Steamed edges of baseboards again etc.
Then today we saw a massive silverfish on our stairs. Never seen one before.
I feel so grossed out in my own home and so daunted at another weekend of deep hovering etc ahead of us on top of the daily grind.
Totally get both things are harmless but give me the ick, especially when originally they were on our bed (which has been steam cleaned now). I am having CBT anyway but AIBU this has made me feel on edge and anxious in my home, I also WFH so no escape.
Pest control say just to keep on top of the endless cleaning. No insecticide as we have a toddler.

If you live in an old house these things are quite common, along with other creepy crawlies, but harmless. Just keep on with the hoovering and erraticate any damp, re the silverfish.

Sounds like you have a bit of a damp problem. Perhaps invest in a dehumidifier?

Do you have carpet?

sarabeepbeep · 14/06/2024 10:03

@C1N1C
Yes we have a dehumidifier in our bedroom, no signs of damp, DH has taken off bath panel, kitchen skirting etc and checked everywhere

Sorry yes we do have carpets but synthetic, then wood floors elsewhere. Carpets hoovered and steamed everywhere
