To say you shouldn't bother reporting child abuse

My ex did violent and scary, life-threatening things to our child. I reported to social services and police.

My ex is claiming parental alienation and that our child was lying to please me. I have been raked over the coals. (I have tried my best to support my child's relationship with my ex, but my child dislikes the ex due to the way he treats them).

Though everyone agrees that my child has given a consistent story about what my ex did, I have been told that I need to go to parenting classes and resume contact.

This has cost me £20k and immense stress.

YABU: it's important to report child abuse no matter what

YANBU: the system is hopelessly broken and abusers will win every time. It's better not to bother.

I haven’t voted, I think the system is broken but reports still need to be made.
I’m so sorry for what you and your child are going through.

They make everyone go to parenting classes. Don't take that bit personally.

Ime best reported if you have physical evidence. Although even then.,,

YABU. However I am very sorry this has happened to you and your child.

I'd worry about anyone who didn't bother reporting and consider them almost as guilty as the perpetrator.

That said, yes the system is pretty broken it would seem.

All services I've encountered to do with family court are utterly useless. Including social services. I've lost all faith now, but yes I'd still report as couldn't have it on my conscience.

No physical evidence, just the word of a small child. The specific act of abuse leaves no makes but could result in death.
