To leave a nearly one year old to cry

I am never sure what the ‘right’ way of doing this is to be honest but she won’t go to sleep with me holding her etc. I have a three year old and can’t just leave him downstairs for half an hour while I get her to sleep. So I’ve left her in her cot. Not sure what to do really.

I don’t think it’s ideal to leave babies to cry really, but I do understand it’s hard when there’s other children to also care for.
Can you at least keep popping back up to reassure her? Like if you’ve placed her in her crib and she’s sad give her a little pat on her tummy, say you love her, night night etc then go check on your son, then pop back in and comfort your daughter in her crib? It might just be a bit of back and forth but you can then be checking on both kids?

She’s gone to sleep. I’m surprised but I guess it was the right thing to do.

Yes but pop in every 10 mins to reassure and lie back down until they drift off
