Anxiety Yawning - anyone else?

I've suffered from anxiety since I was at primary school (I'm now 44)

I'm currently in a period of high anxiety where I feel like there is a trigger point in my chest that I need to reach. It feels like those hammer things at the fairground where if you hit it hard enough a bell goes off and you ease that point for a couple of minutes. But if you don't hit it then the cycle continues until you take a decent enough breath to "hit the spot"

Most of my anxiety now surrounds my children and the constant worry about their health and education. I have 5 year old twins and both have had medical issues since being born premature (along with 5 cycles of IVF and child bereavement)

I have had CBT therapy which did help a little and I take 50mg of sertraline.

Does anyone else have the anxiety yawns? It honestly makes me feel absolutely exhausted at the end of the day.

Has anyone else found a really effective way to reduce these?

Yes I have this. It feels like my breathing is too shallow and I can’t take a deep enough breath without yawning. I too have had cbt that didn’t work. I feel like at this point in my life, anxiety is just something I’ll have to live with! Sorry thats no help at all!

I get them as well. Deep breathing exercises and concentrating on slowing my heart rate have helped quite a bit. Also I like to recognize and label my intrusive thoughts as just that. Intrusive worries that will pass. If something does happen, I will deal with it. When my anxiety gets the best of me my body bombards itself with adrenaline which in turn speeds up my heart and it starts using oxygen double-time. It's tough, especially when it's anxiety relating to your dc, so I feel for you op. Hope you find some relief.

Not sure if it's the same but I've noticed when I'm stressed I yawn a lot. Perhaps it's some sort of unconscious self-soothing??
