Hi sorry this isn't AIBU but posted here for traffic it didn't get noticed in parenting.

Does anyone have any ideas of the problem here?

My 10 month old began weaning at 6ish months puree stuff both homemade and Ella's kitchen etc however I have not been able to get him onto anything thicker.

He basically spits everything back out or just sits with it on his tounge and literally will not swallow it, or sometimes takes it and gags and won't take another bite.

He began at childcare few weeks ago and I explained all to the minder, and she has said yes perhaps he's tounge tied or maybe it's a gastro problem.

He drinks 32oz a day of milk still because he isn't eating much bar very pureed carrots, sweet potatoe, rice pudding, baby cereal and porridge and yougurts. I'm really worried now and don't know what to do. HV basically pawned me off with "food for fun before one"

He's a very happy baby. Sleeps all night. Is almost walking. Saying mama dada baba and generally very content apart from this.

I’d just feed him normal food and let him feed himself. Offer it regularly, all 3 meals and two snacks, and let him get on with it. Eating solid food is a skill he just has to learn. If he hasn’t been practicing, he won’t just get it. We started with finger foods from 6 months and I’d say it took til 9-10 months for it to click.

Just put it in front of him. Finger food he can feed himself. Most of it will end up on the floor but he will get there.

Thanks! I've offered like grated cheese small bits of bread and chicken etc on the high chair and he puts in mouth and gags then spits it out. I thought this was the norm until it keeps happening now for 4months.

My 2 year old still won't eat much meat, maybe a texture thing.

Try toast with very thinly spread peanut butter, anything potato is always a winner, start giving slices of fruit cut lengthwise so he gets used to feeding himself. Fruit never gets turned down in this house!
