Wondering if you can help.
Last Tuesday I had a lower wisdom tooth extracted. It was quite complex and left a big gap. When I got home I could see the wound looked like it had been packed with a thin white strip and stitched over.
I have recovered fairly well. No pain. And now a week on I'm eating normally again (well nothing hard or crunchy but I'm off soup and yoghurt!)
The stitches look as if they're dissolving but that packing is still there. It actually looks as if it's expanding. It's making me feel a bit gross as it feels almost spongy and is giving me an odd taste in my mouth.
I can't find anything online that suggests what this might be or if it will dissolve/fall out. The only packing references in a dental context relate to packing a dry socket.
I can't actually see any healing process only this big white blob.
After surgery the dentist told me that they'd put some stitches in and something to help with clotting which I'm presuming this is. But I really don't know anything else about. Any ideas?

I'm not a dentist but I would suggest getting this looked at I had oral surgery last year but healed well but was told if any concerns go back to them

I'm not especially worried as there's no pain but I'm just curious about what's happening in my mouth more then anything
