What to wear to retirement do?

I feel like I don't know how to dress anymore. I'm 35, size 14 - 16. Don't like anything short.
Have a work retirement do on Friday at a average hotel, nothing fancy. I have no idea what to wear. Happy to buy something new but I just don't know!! Ideas please 🙏

Whatever you would wear for a meal out at a nicer restaurant.

For me, that would be a dress. For others that might be some smart trousers and a nice top.
No-one is going to be bothered about what you are wearing as long as you turn up looking like you've made a bit of an effort, rather than in your PJs / joggers / sports top / clubbing dress.

What shoes? Honestly I'm so lost
