To think this is shockingly low for CM?

Just had a look at a CMS calculator

It's capped, at around 3k a week, or 12k a month earnings. Because my calculations show someone on £200k a month would pay just over £1k for a child

And if they're on 14k a month, they'd pay the same, just over 1k of maintenance a month

Can someone tell me why it's capped?

I know someone personally who gets that because she had a baby with a professional sport player. He is a multi millionaire per year but pays just about 1k a month. I honestly doubted her, to my shame. I thought that just be wrong and she had settled to let him pay less. But it's the truth.

I am obviously just being nosey really

Yes I know some people get 0 or next to 0. But come on. If someone is a millionaire, and choosing to go through CM, why so low?

If it’s over a certain amount you can go to court to get awarded more

Maintenance via CMS is capped, but a court can order top-up maintenance to a much greater level. So in effect your friend has ‘settled’ if she’s not pursued it via the court system.

Yeh for anything over the cap you go to court as it is treated on a case by case basis when you reach that type of money.
