To tell work early?

I'm 6 weeks into a very high risk pregnancy, i have a complex gynae history and so the chances are this pregnancy will result in an early miscarriage in the next couple of weeks (i have had many).

Previously I've informed work when the miscarriage has happened and had a few days off to recover. This time though, i have a number of projects reliant on me with currently no back up in place if i suddenly need time off.

Would you tell work to allow them to get cover in place, or still not say anything? There is a small chance the pregnancy will continue normally, but it's slim.

YABU: Dont tell them
YANBU: You should let them know.

I would tell them, if only for piece of mind and so they can put things in place if you need to take time off. You are entitled to certain modifications due to your pregnancy (I’m assuming you have sympathetic employers) as your health and well-being is so important. Good luck xx

Are you happy to tell them? If so, yes, I would tell your line manager/HR in confidence. It sounds like it would relieve some of the worry about work when you are already worried about the pregnancy.

Yes I have a supportive employer, good HR too.

Thanks both, i think i'll let my boss and HR know today and just make sure my boss has cover in place on the important stuff. The timing is bloody awful.
