How long does CPS take to make a decision on whether to charge someone or not?

I’m probably in the wrong topic…but was hoping someone may have a rough idea for me.
We have had this incident going since January, where my ex threatened to stab me and my daughter to death. Which I had recorded, after advice from a solicitor. I’ve just had an email today from the police to say that they have finally finished their investigation and will now pass it on to the CPS.
i know that no one can be sure but does it sound likely they’ll charge him? How long does CPS take to decide what to do?

check out the CPS website - they indicate it usually takes 30 working days ( 6 weeks) but can be longer depending on weight of evidence / complexity etc.

Hello the cps took ages to make a decision over something that happened to me. It happened 1st September 2023, decision to prosecute was made November, wasnt informed of the cps decision until just before Christmas... I had to do alot of chasing up!! It went to its first court hearing in april, he pleaded not guilty, I had to go to court again last week , pleaded not guilty again, I have to now attend in September... so it's going to take over a year for mine. Sorry this has happened to you btw x

Thank you, it’s already been a slow process. The police became aware of the incident in January this year, it took around 6 weeks to take my statement and they’ve only just now, 6 months later finished their investigation and handed it to the cps.
Sorry to hear you have had such a long wait.
I won’t hold out for hearing anything soon!
