Asked to sign NDA before interview

Never had this before, it’s even asking if I have a CCJ or I’m bankrupt?! Is this a common thing? I’m not sure if to go ahead.

It depends entirely on the job I think?

Does it have anything to do with finance?

SerendipityJane · 07/06/2024 10:16

Part of DV/SC ?

Not sure how enforceable it would be. But there are commercial possibilities.

Chemenger · 07/06/2024 10:17

Many years ago I had to do this for a job in research on a process which was commercially sensitive and involved novel technology.

GizzyDillespie · 07/06/2024 10:19

Can you say roughly what kind of role it is? Sounds like the answer would depend on the role a bit.

My view on these things is always that if there is no particular issue with signing, then go ahead. If you've got a CCJ or a criminal record, you're not going to get the job anyway. if you don't, then saying you don't is fine. Re the NDA, broadly, that's fine but I'd need it to be very clear regarding what is covered. So, if they're going to provide confidential information as part of the assessment process, and they want yo to keep that information confidential, fine. But I'd be less wiling to sign anything that said I couldn't talk about th einterview process at all because that's too open ended and you just don't know what you'd be getting into.

On that note, I sign NDAs of the former sort all the time when talking to potential clients about work. They need to tell me what they're doing as a way to get my opinions and thoughts and assess if they want to work with me. But they want to be sure that any of that information remains confidential. But usually it's quite basic because even under those conditions, they wouldn't share a LOT of detail with me.

Yes I'd sign an NDA before an interview. What's the harm in agreeing not to tell anyone about your interview?

Greentreesandbushes · 07/06/2024 13:16

Yes I have recently signed NDA, no drama

Everyoneisunreasonable · 07/06/2024 13:44

Yes, I’ve signed NDAs for interviews before. Not a biggie.
