During my teens/twenties I had fun but also some rocky and fairly damaging experiences too with boyfriends and family, I would daydream about when my 'real life' would start with a nice husband, house and children.

Fast forward and now I have it. Hurrah! But guess what ..I am consumed in thinking about my past experiences and said relationships.

Aibu to think we are designed to never be present/happy??

I relate to this, my theory is when we're in the "not so great times" to put it lightly, we want better and definitely hope for it one day. Then once we are in the good times we finally feel safe enough to reflect on what's happened/ process things and also the good times make us realise what wasn't so good in our lives before

Gratitude is a skill that can be worked on. Personally I find it difficult to be around the 'negative nancy' types who are always unsatisfied with what they've got. It makes for tedious conversations and tip-toeing about sharing good news.
