To sell an expensive watch on ebay?

Advice please! DH just had a 10 year service 'reward' from work, could choose from a dozen items via one of those corporate award companies. He kindly let me choose a watch, as he recently got a good one for himself and there was nothing else appealing. It arrived and I'm not keen ( yes I'm an ungrateful cow), so thinking to sell it and use the money to buy one I like. The only option seems to be ebay but would a fancy watch attract dodgy buyers? Not a trendy brand, Ebel, but RRP is £1295 and it is in package with warranty and paperwork etc. Is this a bad idea? Could I get scammed? Only ever sold bits and bobs before. Can you specify only longstanding buyers with great feedback etc?

I wouldn't. Ebay don't offer any protection for sellers & 99.9% of the time will side with the buyer in a dispute. It happened to me with a Louis Vuitton bag. A lot of jewellers will buy pre owned goods, or maybe offer part exchange on a new one. I would go that route. You might not get as much, but it's definitely safer.

Might be worth looking here

Adds an extra layer of protection for you. I would sell an expensive watch on eBay but take great care to make use of all protections and be absolutely sure to send within UK only.

Very risky re scammers. I'd only sell f2f and through bank transfer once the money is in your account, transfer it out to another and then hand over the watch.

Yes you absolutely could get scammed and you'll not get much for it compared to RRP either

thanks all maybe too risky. Have found a couple of online places which buy watches, so will give them a try.

From the other side, I bought my Rado watch from an ebay seller and had no trouble at all.
