That men my age on Tinder look much older than me

I'm 35. I feel men who are 35 look much older than me. Or do I just have a generous image of how young I look 🤣🙈

I used to be asked for ideas until quite recently in my defence 🤣

They’re probably lying about their age!

Mirandawrongs · 06/06/2024 21:51

They just have a ridiculous ego and believe they look 35 at 53

Gettingannoyednow · 06/06/2024 21:54

Broad generalisation: the average man puts a lot less effort into their appearance than the average woman. So they look worse. On average.

CadyEastman · 06/06/2024 21:54

Totally agree. They're not 35. If I was being generous I'd say they were 45.

Justkeepswiimming · 06/06/2024 21:55

Quite a few of them I just think to myself, wow you've had a tough paper round ! 🤣

Agree probably lying, I saw a guy I use to go to school with on there he was 2 years older than me but on tinder he was apparently 2 years younger than me! So lying about his age by 4 years..

Justkeepswiimming · 06/06/2024 21:56

*ID not ideas....I have none of those.

I agree! I’ve been on Bumble and men in their 40s look like my grandfather. I’m in my fifties. I know men my age who look younger, so either they apply a dodgy filter to make them look wiser, or they’re lying.

Hatecleaninglovecleanhouse · 06/06/2024 22:18

I look at the names now. I too pondered how rough men my age on dating apps often looked, then I twigged that I sure as hell wasn't at school with anyone with their names. They had names 10-20 years 'older' than they claimed to be. Okay, there will be exceptions to that, but it was an eye-opener.

OP it's likely they figure their best chance to snag a 30 something is by claiming to be similar age, when in reality they could be closer to 50 something.

They are deluded hoping that when you meet them you will be so bowled over by their personality that you won't care that they are really your dad's age, or you'll be too nice (like many women are socialised to be) to tell them to take a hike...maybe they'll even get a sympathy shag.

Also if you challenge them on the lie you may be called a shallow bitch etc. because apparently it's mean of you to be put off by their age, even though some how it's not mean of them to completely discount women of their own age.

Figure that one out...

So. Well. Said.
I've seen it before, man in his 70s getting offended that women in 50s didn't fancy him. Erm it's not personal mate.
And he didn't want a woman his own age!
It's all so grim. We can tell! Why would we wanna waste our younger years with older people. We'll do that when we're older too.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 06/06/2024 22:34

Someone beat me to it but you may be able to ‘date’ them by their name. For example there aren’t many Kenneth’s or Nigel’s under 50.

moonwatch · 25/09/2024 17:16

double post somehow?

moonwatch · 25/09/2024 17:16

I guess some people do age worse than others and also lots of men don't use spf or take care of themselves in any meaningful way unfortunately. I've seen the same on apps though and have heard horror stories form friends going on dates and I assume many of them are lying to access younger women.

Most of the guys I know irl don't look as bad as the ones the apps.
