To sulk at this weather?

I realise it's petty. And that there are actual catastrophes happening but... It's June. And I'm wearing a jumper. It's sunny but also blustery and cold. I can't seem to settle. Hate feel unable to just sit in sunshine. Haven't had a totally still, sunny day in so long. I'm NW btw. Am I being unreasonable to feel a bit cheated of summer so far?

YANBU, that is all.

LoveSkaMusic · 06/06/2024 16:26

It's no better in the SE, I can assure you!

Deliaskis · 06/06/2024 16:28

Actually is isn't all. Yes, it was the wettest wettest winter, and then we had a week of dry weather, then this. DD competes with her pony and all of April's events were cancelled due to ground conditions, all but one in May, and now there are question marks about June. JUNE! We are usually worried the ground might be getting too hard by this point, but we've not even got the season off the ground yet.

SusanSHelit · 06/06/2024 16:28

I'm NW too and I don't think we've had more than two consecutive dry days since early September. It's properly shit. YANBU

Thejewellershands · 06/06/2024 16:28

Not to be dramatic, but I’ve had the heating on today. I went for a hair cut in a little jacket this morning and was so cold because of how windy it was. When I nipped back out later on I put my proper coat on 😔 it was DH’s birthday yesterday and we had a walk around the shops in town. I was hoping it would be a nice sunny day out but it was raining and cold. I’m pretty sad about it. But saying that is it only early June! I hope July will get better

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2024 16:29

I just saw an article online predicting a June heatwave in a few weeks time!
:( depends if you trust these things on line or not.
(I hope it's not too hot , but I can see why people are fed up with it being cooler too)

Whisteria · 06/06/2024 16:30

It was snowing up the hills where I am yesterday 😂

Theedgeoftheabyss · 06/06/2024 16:32

Phew. Glad I'm not alone. I also put the flipping heating on!!

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2024 16:32

It can stay like this forever ! (It's bound to get unbearably hot and I'll be the one moaning ) ! 😂

mummytojoseph · 06/06/2024 16:37

Expecting end of August so I'm enjoying this cooler weather, dreading being pregnant if we have a heat wave like last year.

SeeingRainbowsInTheGloom · 06/06/2024 16:49

YANBU. I'm still wearing thermals while WFH as I get so cold sitting still. It's not so bad if I can move around outside. I love warm weather and so fed up with what seems to be a shrinking summer now. Climate change 😢

PiranhaPeaches · 06/06/2024 16:52

We're not even a week into meteorological summer yet. Give it time!

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 06/06/2024 17:05

Electric blanket has been on for two nights in a row :( Normally by this stage in the year it's been taken off, cleaned and put into storage until the first chills of late Autumn/early Winter.

The beautiful heavy blooms of the rose bushes are receiving a beating in the heavy rain and wind and I'm constantly out there trying to add extra supports and stakes to stop them from collapsing completely.

I would love to be able to go out in strappy sandals, without having to carry a raincoat and umbrella. That's my definition of Summer.I don't know why I've got my sunglasses in my bag;they're a complete waste of space at the moment!

Lovely blue skies here at the moment in the NW but there's a pretty strong breeze.

LordPercyPercy · 06/06/2024 17:06

I've had the heating on and been back in my winter coat the last couple of days.

Celticliving · 06/06/2024 17:58

This is perfect weather for me. Not too hot, not too cold!

Love it!

LordPercyPercy · 06/06/2024 18:16

It's definitely too cold where I am, there was snow on the high ground on Wednesday!

the80sweregreat · 06/06/2024 18:20

Celticliving · 06/06/2024 17:58

This is perfect weather for me. Not too hot, not too cold!

Love it!

Perfect for me too! I Wish it could be like this the whole time !

shellyleppard · 06/06/2024 18:23

I'm in the east midlands.... still wearing thick winter socks and a jumper!!!!! The sun is out (for now) but I can't get warm

Ohmy88 · 06/06/2024 19:31

YANBU. My maternity leave ends in a few weeks & I can’t help but feel cheated out of some good weather. Will be my last baby & my first was a covid baby so both maternity leaves have been a let down in one way or another. But yes there are bigger problems in the world so trying not to be too woe, is me! 🤷🏼‍♀️

ArcticBells · 06/06/2024 20:04

Loving this weather - dry and the perfect temperature! Hoping it lasts until my favourite season- winter GrinGrinGrin

alittlehopeisadangerousthing · 06/06/2024 20:06

Yanbu

Its absolute crap

DisgruntledPelican · 06/06/2024 20:09

Also north west here and it felt like most of May was lovely, especially the middle two weekends which were high teens/low 20s. Chillier the past few days but the garden needs the rain!

catwithflowers · 07/06/2024 09:42

NE England here and although we've had a few warm sunny days, I put the heating on last night. We've turned off the Aga (as you would expect to in June) and the kitchen is bloody freezing. To make things worse it's been really windy so I actually had to get the hose out for the garden yesterday.

I'm out walking the dog now in a puffer jacket and a woolly hat 😩
