Maltesers - chocolate to crispy ratio

Icannoteven · 06/06/2024 15:56

Aibu to think that Mars have changed the ratio of chocolate to crispy stuff in their Malteser’s, or made the chocolate thinner somehow?

I’ve just bought a box and had a couple of maltesers where the chocolate was so thin you can see the crispy inside. The chocolate shell just doesn’t seem the same!

YANBU. My DH just told me this exact thing. He's not happy about it.

Hermittrismegistus · 06/06/2024 16:00

I wish they'd make plain malteasers-just the malty ball.

shrinkingbee · 06/06/2024 16:00

Agreed!

Icannoteven · 06/06/2024 16:01

Me either @VolvoFan though it’s probably better for me , since chocolate triggers my migraines anyway but they just aren’t hitting the same! How annoying.

That is outrageous. Definitely less chocolate there. Disgusting.

gwanmen · 06/06/2024 16:04

Wait was it a bad one or are they all like that?

Not1791 · 06/06/2024 16:05

Wonder if they're fewer calories per 100g?

A change in that data would confirm a change of recipe?

Icannoteven · 06/06/2024 16:07

@gwanmen that was the worst of the bunch but most of them looked a bit more naked that usual. A bit sheer. I’ve just found this photo from the guardian in 2016 and this deffo shows a thicker chocolate shell😡

Oh no... an excuse for me to go out and buy some...

You evil evil people!!!

StepCombatAttack · 06/06/2024 16:41

I always bite all the chocolate off from around the Malteser before I eat the inside. This just wouldn’t be possible with such a thin shell. 😲

ArabellaScott · 06/06/2024 16:42

I am not sure, OP. I shall have to go and conduct some research.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 06/06/2024 16:44

I think the chocolate's a lot thinner than it used to be. Peeling them with my teeth used to be really easy, now I usually have to suck the chocolate off.

AgentProvocateur · 06/06/2024 16:49

I would buy chocolate-less Maltesers if it was an option.

I think everyone should go buy some, as an experiment. For science.

An experiment!

Kyogo67 · 06/06/2024 17:24

Dark choc ones are nicer and more chocolatey

OneTC · 06/06/2024 17:28

Yeah I eat fucking tonnes of them and in the last few months the chocolate has gone thinner and the honeycomb is less consistent

britneyisfree · 06/06/2024 17:29

I'm gluten free now so haven't had malteasers in about 20 years but can see they deffo have a lot less chocolate!!!!

CantBelieveNaive · 06/06/2024 17:39

@Icannoteven brilliant idea! Proper focus group purely for market research of course! 👅

OneTC · 06/06/2024 18:14
