Is it safe to press on your bump in pregnancy?

Baby brain moment. I’m not yet 20 weeks and yet to feel baby due to an anterior placenta. I thought I would push down on my tummy a bit to see if I felt them. I pressed my fingers maybe inch deep above my navel, and then again below it. I’m now feeling worried I could have hurt baby especially with my placenta being at the front. I did only press lightly but all the same. I’m sure you can tell it’s my PFB ;-) Can someone tell me I’m being silly?

You will be fine. Honestly.,

Allywill · 05/06/2024 21:40

It’s absolutely fine, baby is very well protected.

No, please don't worry. The baby is protected by a wall of muscle and all that amniotic fluid. It would take much much more than a gentle press to harm them.

Absolutely fine ..once you are in the last trimester your bump will be prodded each time you see the midwife to check baby’s position

Absolutely fine. Wait until the midwives start prodding and poking! Baby is comfortable and protected inside the sac.
