Medical appointment wait times ?

I was given an appt and told that it’s a strict policy - they run on time - the appts are 10 mins only and that if I’m more than 10 mins late then I won’t be seen. To also get there early if possible and then sent a text yesterday to say if I don’t go it costs the nhs £165

I arrived 15 mins before my appt , to be told that the doctor isn’t even there yet so I’ll be waiting a while. It’s now 1 hr 5 mins past my appt time and I’ve said to them I have to leave at 230 as need to pick dc up and they’ve said if I leave before being seen I’ll be back to the bottom of the list (waited 3 months for this appt which is an initial triage by the service I need treatment from)

AIBU to think this is ridiculous? It’s not even that busy so I’m puzzled ??

Can you go pick up your daughter and come back to the doctor? I’ve had to do that before.

The GP is probably doing phone appointments, crazy saying appointments run to time when they clearly don’t.

I’d be gone for nearly 2 hours if I left then returned as it’s at the hospital and quite a drive from school so I’d have to leave at 230 to collect at 315 and with traffic I doubt I’d b back here till maybe about 4? They’ve said they can’t accommodate that either I wait or if I leave it will be rescheduled. It’s just they were so forceful about the strict time policy 🤦‍♀️then don’t seem to stick to that at all !

It’s hard to even ask as well as a lot of the time the reception area is empty as they keep just disappearing down the corridor for ages so hard to get updates . There are 4 other people here and nobody has been called they all got here after me

Ask to speak to the department manager. That is unacceptable. Can school hang on to your DD for a while or can you get a friend to collect her? If not you should stand your ground and ask for a sooner reschedule.
