To think these clothes might not be clean?

Washed bedding. Stuck it in the tumble dryer. We forgot about it and it wasn’t fully dry, a day later went back to it and it was quite damp in the tumble dryer and smelled a bit foisty.

I removed from the tumble dryer and put back into the washing machine on a hot wash.

I then just used the tumble dryer as normal, for our next load of clothes that needed drying which included underwear. Taken it all out of the dryer and it smells fresh. Just wondered if there would be germs on the clothing since the dryer had been holding wet bedding for a day or two, or if I’m overthinking it completely? AIBU?

I can’t tell if I’m being irrational

You’re being irrational. It’s totally fine :-)

You are. All is well.

Yes, you're being irrational. What sort of germs are you imagining will be on them?

Not sure, bacteria if there was bacteria in the dryer. Less bothered about my clothes and more everyone elses

Where are these germs coming from? What do you think they might do to you?

RISK ASSESSMENT, PEOPLE!

Swissrollover · 05/06/2024 12:28

It's fine. The heat and removal of moisture would have killed anything potentially harmful such as bacteria and mildew that cause the musty smell.

Leave the dryer door open for a bit though and if a condenser/ heat pump, clean out any lint from the condenser in case it smells now.

ohtowinthelottery · 05/06/2024 12:28

You're definitely overthinking this.
