To feel really unsettled and stressed?

I don't know why I'm posting, I'm just feeling really overwhelmed and fed up. We moved house at the weekend and I feel so disoriented and ungrounded. I don't know where anything is, and nothing feels like home or familiar. I'm snappy and irritable with our 3 year old because everything is just too much right now. Partner works shifts and had to work all weekend. I'm off this week to sort things out but instead of doing that I'm just sitting staring into space and doing the bare minimum to sort my toddler's needs out as I cannot find any energy or motivation to start unpacking boxes.

Is it normal to feel so overwhelmed following a move? Anyone got any tips on how I can make this feel better?

You sound so overwhelmed - you're zoning out because of it!
Can you go to a local cafe for an hour with your kid and try to take a minute? Time away from it being in your face might give a bit of perspective.

Then I would try to think about prioritising rooms. Do it room by room - small steps. Focus on one at a time. If you need to paint do it white for now.

Hopefully in the coffee shop you can meet some people who can recommend places to go/eat/things to do locally too and give you a bit of a welcome! Library might have a good notice board for local stuff too.

Of course this is totally normal. Moving house is one of the most stressful things you can go through in life.

But you’ve done it and there is no rush to get things done in a certain time frame. Go box by box and take your time.
