To ask how long would it take you to clean a bedroom and en-suite?

Double bedroom but not a large room, en-suite is large with walk in shower. The room is quite cluttered and hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. We are talking visible dust and dirt on skirting boards, window frames, shelves, and coffee stains up the walls and bed frame. Bathroom is much the same with lots of hair, dust and grime. I’m not a professional cleaner and doing a favour for someone so it took me 2 and a half hours. I’m slightly horrified it took me so long.

I'd say 3-4 hours especially if there was stuff to tidy too, so not bad going on your part at all. Why do you feel a particular way though if you were doing a favour?

I seem to take ages cleaning compare to most people, but that sounds like a good half a day's work, minimum.

I agree with half a day/ 4 hours to do it properly.

Even professional cleaners have higher rates for deep cleaning, they take a lot longer than maintenance cleans.

It sounds like a declutter and deep clean rather than just the standard version so depending on how cluttered it was and how heavy some of the dirt was then I agree it could take 1/2 a day or more!

it’s not a simple wipe and move on, it sounds like it takes time to move stuff clean then put it back multiple times for every area

Takes me 1.5hr to do mine but it's done weekly so never massively dirty and this is a thorough clean with bed change

Given the clutter and level of dirt, two and a half hours is quite reasonable. You did a great job tackling the dust, stains, and grime. Your efforts will make a noticeable difference. Well done!
