People that jog with buggies

Is it safe?

I want to go back to jogging and I’ve seen mums jogging with buggies. Mine is still a newborn so I would wait a few months. What age do you start? Can you jog with a baby in a buggy? Is it safe?

AIBU for being paranoid about it all?

In my local park I see many joggers out with buggies.

Can I just make a comment/suggestion: if you have a toddler who is sitting up in the buggy please don't have him/her facing front - I see any number of children, sometimes in cold weather, with the wind in their face.

Have the child facing you!

Most jogging buggies are not parent facing. I had an out n about and interchangeable jogger, big wheels. If it was cold etc I put rain cover down.

Both mine used to squeal with delight when we ran. Now 16 and 10 no damage both are runners,🤷‍♀️

I think guidance is to wait until your LO is six months old. There’s loads of articles online about it and how to do it properly. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to do this too once my DC is born and old enough! 😊

I got a 3 wheel buggy of ebay with big wheels for running with
thinking about it do they still do them don’t particularly notice prams but don’t recall seeing many about now

Under 6 months there’s supposedly a risk of harming them due to bumps etc and them not having head control.

Over 6 months there’s a risk of them screaming/crying the whole time because they don’t want to go jogging, making your investment in a jogging buggy pointless!

I jogged with my UppaBaby Vista when I had my firstborn. It was fine to run with from when DS was 6 months, but I wasn't setting any records!

I misread the title as jogging with budgies😂😂😂

Guidance is from 6 months, my first DC was really tiny and so waited until about 8 months (I was a bit paranoid and used to stop to check all was OK fairly often - it always was fine) but with second was running at 6 months. They loved it and enjoyed doing parkrun and seeing other runners. Got a dedicated running buggy which was forward facing and I would recommend that - you can get second hand easily

Loads of people with running buggies at our Parkrun, in fact we plan to get one ourselves when our baby is old enough.

No problem with a buggy that's designed for running, they have completely different suspension to a normal buggy so baby doesn't get bounced about, and bigger wheels for stability. I believe minimum age for baby should be 6 months.

I did marathon training with my first child in a running buggy. Ran with him from 6 months. You do need a specific type of buggy.

My daughter was less keen, so we mainly used it for nursery commuting for her. They both loved it when they were bigger and both keen runners now.

I misread the title as people who jog with bunnies. very disappointed to realise I was wrong
