During the pandemic and after I didn't have a cold or any other viral infections. For three years. But the last 12 months I have had three chest colds, 2 of them ending with pneumonia. It really sucks. Was

Perhaps it is simply something to do with age. I've had something recently, worse than a common cold but certainly not proper flu. It's taken me 3 weeks to shift it. When I was a young woman, these things would last 4-5 days max. I

Maybe, as the weather improves, we are all getting out a bit more and coming into contact with more people and their germs.

Are you OK in yourself OP? Three infections in one year sounds exhausting. Have you seen a doc to make sure everything is in order?

DuchessDandelion · 02/06/2024 00:07

I can beat that. I'm on my 5th cold of the year. 😠

Comedycook · 02/06/2024 00:08

I seem to be constantly sick....in fact I think I'm sick more often than I'm well at the moment. Currently have this horrendously cough that's been going round.

DaisyCat33 · 02/06/2024 00:11

All I can say is that I'm not. I haven't had a cold or virus for over a year. So I don't know if more people are getting ill lately and I'm just an outlier 🤷

Comedycook · 02/06/2024 00:12

Very unscientific but every time I've been out shopping recently, I've heard people coughing and spluttering. Particularly odd considering it's now spring/summer

Namenamchange · 02/06/2024 00:13

Yes! Feel like it’s all the time at the moment. I did start to wonder if it as because I haven’t had the heating on as much and I’ve been cold. Yes I know you being cold doesn’t make you ill in itself but there is evidence that it’s easier for germs to take hold.

I feel like I’ve been ill more than not this year.

HomelessAngua · 02/06/2024 00:13

No extra colds etc for me and mine.

cadburyegg · 02/06/2024 00:19

I agree with you.

I've always been pretty healthy but I've had 8.5 days off work sick since last August - if I reach 10 by this august (it's worked out in a rolling 12 months) I'll have to have a meeting with HR. All genuine but mild illnesses (sinus pain/food poisoning/flu/ear infection). This is a lot for me.

My kids on the other hand... this academic year ds1 has had 1 day off sick and ds2 has had 2 days. Very grateful for that.

Bluewallss · 02/06/2024 00:22

Yes! I’ve been more sick this year than I have in the past 5. Same for my colleagues. I thought it was just us constantly passing it round eachother.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 02/06/2024 00:24

Yes! And when I get a cold it takes much longer to shift. What would usually be 3-5 days of feeling rubbish it's now 10-14 days.
