4 day old chicken curry?

Made a chicken curry on Tuesday night and put the leftovers in the fridge. We were planning to have the last portion last night but ended up going out and forgot to put it in the freezer.

Will it be ok to eat now? It doesn't look or smell bad but I don't want to take any chances.

YABU - it's fine
YANBU - chuck it

I probably would, making sure it was heated thoroughly.

DH wouldn't Grin

ClawdeenWolf · 01/06/2024 18:38

I'm quite a grot when it comes to food but I'd probably sling it.

RememberToSmile1980 · 01/06/2024 18:38

It will be fine as long as it's been in the fridge.

PJHarvey · 01/06/2024 18:46

Presumably if it looks and smells normal and I make sure it's thoroughly heated it should be fine?

Yes should be good to go.

loropianalover · 01/06/2024 18:48

If it smells fine and you heat it extra thoroughly, I’d eat it :)

sprigatito · 01/06/2024 18:48

If it's been covered in a fridge and it smells ok, we'd eat it.

Sakura7 · 01/06/2024 18:59

The official advice seems to be 3-4 days, but which one is it?

I would probably chance it personally.

PJHarvey · 01/06/2024 19:04

Thanks all, majority on the poll are saying chuck it, so going against the comments a bit.

Really don't want to have to cook/order in!

What’s the shelf life of stuff in your fridge normally like?
If it is on the colder side and stuff often lasts past its best before date, and it still smells / looks ok, I reckon you’d be fine. Otherwise, no…

Olika · 01/06/2024 19:12

I do not like eating food beyond 3 days so I wouldn't but for example my parents would definitely eat as they trust food staying good in the fridge for days.

NeverEnoughPants · 01/06/2024 19:14

I would eat it today, but not tomorrow. Four days is my limit for chicken.

SauvignonBlonk · 01/06/2024 19:14

Sealed Tupperware in the fridge yep.
open in the fridge nope.

wizarddry · 01/06/2024 19:20

What is your risk tolerance for food poisoning?

PJHarvey · 03/06/2024 22:12

Well we ate it on Saturday and no ill effects two days later. Glad I didn't chuck it.

Rubbishconfession · 03/06/2024 22:13

Glad you didn’t chuck it. The spices would have extended the life and it’s fine on day 4.

Seagrassbasket · 03/06/2024 22:15

Ooooh I don’t think I would and I’m fairly relaxed about sell by dates etc.

DP would eat it though!!

Seagrassbasket · 03/06/2024 22:16

Oooops sorry didn’t read the whole thread! Glad it was ok!!
