New friends after 50 - I’m a bit lonely

My youngest child started secondary in September and I feel like my social life and circle vanished a bit after primary ended - I made friends through school mums but it’s changed a lot. I have other friends too but it’s been a shift.

I feel lonely - I am a sociable person. I am trying to see this (and turning 50) as a chance to explore new pastures. I go to exercise class but it’s not really been a place to meet new people. I have work mates. My DP is pretty anti - social.

Is it possible at this age? What’s the best way to meet new people?

Team sport?

Volunteering?

Reach out to old friends?

Be authentic, and don't come across desperate or you could put people off
