To think this hairdresser is just weird?

New hairdresser, only had a consultation. She text me the results of my strand test and I had a couple of questions (she said feel free to ask any) and I realised she hadn’t responded a week later.

I checked her business social to see if she had gone on holiday and instead saw that she was posting about how trolls had attacked her online and an article had been written. The article was not related to her, she had just commented on it with a controversial opinion and trolls (I.e. two people with different controversial opinions had commented back to her). She was even posting photos of her “epic response” to them …

I text her again saying please can I have an update as I need to book in before a certain date and she just text back saying “sorry it’s been crazy this week”. Didn’t respond to my actual question.

Yeah, I’d be looking for another hairdresser. She sounds like a flaky drama queen.

stressedespresso · 31/05/2024 15:45

She’s no longer your new hairdresser - run while you can!

What in the name of crap hairdressers is a strand test?!

It's what you have before colour to ensure you don't react. It's completely normal.

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 04/06/2024 12:57

Sorry no it's not, it's to check how the colour takes!

(Both are normal though)

What every colourist should do

annabofana · 04/06/2024 13:17

Don't get involved, OP. Move on, find someone else.

Narrow escape.

Ah, not familiar with the term - had visions of hair being removed and tested for

TanginaBarrons · 04/06/2024 13:52

You seem overinvested. I'd move on asap.

stripeyoldcat · 04/06/2024 15:29

Did she go on a hen trip to Ibiza by any chance?

How funny, I've literally just had one done. Yes, a strand will be cut out and tested with the dye product you're planning to have to see how well the dye takes to it. I'm having red streaks put in so we'll know if the hair will have to be bleached first. Had a patch test too.

Scruffily · 04/06/2024 15:52

You don't "need" to book in with this hairdresser, if anything you need to run a mile away from her.

purplecorkheart · 04/06/2024 15:55

I would be looking for a new hairdresser to be honest. She maybe an excellent hairdresser but a good business person would focus on taking care of their business and clients rather than feeding online trolls or sharing personal info like that on business pages.

I would go elsewhere.

Hairdressers love drama.

Whoswhoof · 04/06/2024 21:20

You want to watch she doesn’t see this or you’ll end up on her SM too!

Justsomethoughts · 04/06/2024 22:21

Seems like way more drama than it’s worth. Hairdressers are meant to make your life easier!

Imisssleep2 · 05/06/2024 12:47

It shouldn't be that difficult to get a response out of someone you are giving business to, I would sack them off and find someone else before it's too late
