To pick hair off my clothes on public transport

Sundaycoffee · 30/05/2024 16:14

I was sat on the train today and absent-mindedly picked a loose hair off my trousers and dropped it on the floor.
The woman on the aisle seat opposite me said vedy loudly "excuse me do you mind not dropping your hair all over the train carriage?"
It's not like I was sitting there brushing my hair over everyone. Surely if you're travelling on public transport you occasionally accept that you might have to be in the vicinity of a strand of hair off someone??
Or am I being totally disgusting and unreasonable?

No she’s being ridiculous does she think no one loses hair anyway its not like you’re littering

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 30/05/2024 16:16

YANBU - she was being ridiculous. Hair, skin cells and general fluff and dust fall off people and things all the time. Train carriages will be full of it! Silly woman. Someone people are just irrationally pernickety.

IncognitoUsername · 30/05/2024 16:18

Ignore her. Why are people so involved in what other people are doing?

GrandHighPoohbah · 30/05/2024 16:20

Put it down to her having a bad day and ignore. It must be exhausting for her, being so invested in such minutiae.

ReginaPerrin · 30/05/2024 19:18

How did she even know it was your hair? It could have attached itself to you anywhere on your journey. She was being a twat.

qpid5tunt · 31/05/2024 17:54

As long as they weren't pubes I don't see the problem🤭

piningforautumn · 31/05/2024 17:59

What a witch! Loose hairs gross some people out, but realistically, we're all shedding hair and skin everywhere we go. She should have looked away and thought about something else rather than trying to shame you for something so insignificant.

If I'd been there and started picking off some of the long, white hairs I always seem to be covered in (courtesy of my dogs), I'd have given her a fit.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 31/05/2024 18:04

I'd assume she had some sort of personal issues and just roll my eyes inwardly.

Emmz1510 · 02/06/2024 18:46

What did you say to her OP?
How ridiculous

Mamette · 02/06/2024 18:49

Wow, she should get the train where I live. She would have her work cut out for her reprimanding people.

A few weeks ago the man beside me was picking scabs off his scalp and putting them in a Tesco bag for life. I did move as soon as I could. I think one hair is really not an issue.

Mamette · 02/06/2024 18:52

Although maybe she would have been ok about you putting your hair in a bag for life, now I think about it 🤔

At least then you wouldn’t have been dropping it “all over” the place 😂

Jesus wept 🤣😭

Imisssleep2 · 02/06/2024 21:14

She should be more concerned about what other parts of humans or human fluids are on the train, think a hair is the least of her worries if she knew what was really on train floors. She was being over the top, don't worry yourself over it

TimetoPour · 02/06/2024 21:20

Wow. I would be inclined to say, "would you mind keeping your nose out of other people's business?" Who says it was your your hair and not someone elses! Cheeky fucking nosey parker

Cavend · 02/06/2024 23:19

A hair is nothing, this passenger was OTT.
I was reading the TripAdvisor reviews for a local pub the other day, and someone had quoted "Do not visit this pub, my foot stuck to the floor due to the beer and urine on the floor". Nice.

OldieWoldie · 03/06/2024 10:14

I'd be physically sick over you if you did that near me. Totally disgusting 🤢

LlynTegid · 03/06/2024 10:18

It may have been an over the top response, but you could have acknowledged it and apologised.

There is much worse behaviour on public transport and indeed that and smelly people are one of the reasons why it is difficult to increase usage, though that is no defence.

You'd be sick if someone removed a hair from their clothing? Really?

LaCouleurDeMonCiel · 03/06/2024 11:25

Of cours NBU, some people are crazy. I bet she wouldn’t have said anything if you were a muscular guy.

Do you just walk about hairy?
My cat leaves hair on my clothes and I can brush them off with a roller and low and behold I'm sat there and I see a hair ... its seriously not the end of the road to pick it off... what is the answer? Eat it? Leave it? Put in my pocket for later, for the bloody thing to reappear on my jacket. 😂

Bonjovispjs · 03/06/2024 13:44

She's lucky that's all you were doing. I see people (usually men) pick their nose and eat it regularly on the tube. Even seen some people eat their ear wax, seriously what is wrong with people? 🤮

Bonkers. Do you go outside much?

I was at a theme park at the weekend and witnessed a young lad in the queue knuckle deep in his nostril, struck gold, then ate it.

BobbyBiscuits · 03/06/2024 13:48

How odd that they were observing you that closely, it was one hair!?
If you were brushing and styling the hair and shedding all over the place then it's a big no.
But if it was a crumb or a piece of lint, would they have moaned about that as well?
It's not like a train carriage is expected to be as sanitary as a flipping operating theatre!

CherubEarrings · 03/06/2024 13:49

Sorry I think it is disgusting to do that on public transport.
