Hi All, would like some opinions please as this has been playing on my mind. Recently went on holiday with my DC, single parent, DC has different surname so I always take birth cert for this reason however never been asked to produce it before, I was asked this time and totally didn’t mind as I would rather they do check all children. My issue is when chatting with the border officer and informed him surprisingly no one has asked for it before even in US,where they are very strict, he made a comment that we should always take it especially as my DC is a different nationality? For clarification my DC is mixed race British and I am white British however we are both British born with British passports. My DC was then asking why she is a different nationality, which obviously she’s not. My issue is the border officer confusing skin colour and nationality as I find this totally baffling but perhaps I’m overlooking something here?
