Yes

PTSDBarbiegirl · 28/05/2024 07:59

Inconsiderate.

Scarletttulips · 28/05/2024 07:59

It’s rude and thoughtless!

2chocolateoranges · 28/05/2024 08:00

Making noise in the garden before 9am is antisocial, never mind 8am.

we have neighbours who don’t work but love to cut the grass at 8am most weekends! It drives me insane, no chance of a long lie!

IncognitoUsername · 28/05/2024 08:01

It’s inconsiderate but the law says no noise between 11pm and 7am so I’m not sure what you can do about it.

DoreenonTill8 · 28/05/2024 08:02

How much before 8am? Most households around me are up and at 'em by 8 preparing to leave for work/school.

OutOfTheHouse · 28/05/2024 08:04

On a weekday not really. On the weekend or a holiday then yes.

gamerchick · 28/05/2024 08:06

Wouldn't know, I'm long at work at that time. During the week is fair game I think.

startyourengines · 28/05/2024 08:06

It started about 7.30 but I was asleep and couldn't work out what it was. Lay there for 10 mins trying ti work out what it was : it stops and starts. So annoying,

I didn't know that about 7am so annoyingly he is in the right.

Grr
Thanks the sympathy

I don't think it's that bad on a weekday. We've had scaffolders putting up scaffolding before 8am on more than one occasion, and builders' merchants making noisy deliveries.

AutumnBride · 28/05/2024 08:10

DP used to threaten to come in off a night shift and cut his lawn at 6am because he was sick of being woken up by hedge trimmers and lawn movers mid morning. Any noise at any time is going to annoy someone.

cannonballz · 28/05/2024 08:11

I think technically its fine after 7am

My NDN goes to work between 7.15 and 7.20 every weekday morning.

I know this because her DH gives her a lift, and their dog howls, barks and whines until he gets back.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 28/05/2024 08:16

8am is fine on a weekday.

Caterina99 · 28/05/2024 08:16

I think on a weekday it’s fine (bit annoying though, not everyone has to get up early!)

Definitely inconsiderate on a weekend

PuttingDownRoots · 28/05/2024 08:19

The council do similar work from 7am on a weekday.

Grumpynan · 28/05/2024 08:24

I think it’s ok after 8, before that, even if most people are up, it’s just to early fir that kind of noise.

i also try to be considerate on a weekend afternoon in the summer, get noisy jobs done in the morning so people can enjoy the garden in piece in the afternoon/evening. I now there are times it can’t be helped but grass cutting power washing etc 🤷🏼‍♀️. I also feel if neighbours have vistors in the Garden it’s just polite to keep your noise down a bit. We had a bbq this weekend and next door decided to use a power tool, 4.45 and he started it up, we weren’t bring noisy just happy voices 🙄

Sillystrumpet · 28/05/2024 08:26

I think 8 is better, but I’d not get worked up.

at the weekend though I was going to use mine, decided to wait till 9, as it was a bank holiday weekend, and at 8 my neighbour stated up with his strimmer. 😂

What law?

IncognitoUsername · 28/05/2024 08:36

TheDandyLion · 28/05/2024 08:28

What law?

Noise Act 1996

Wordsmithery · 28/05/2024 08:37

It may not be illegal but it's certainly antisocial and thoughtless. I restrict piano playing to between 9am (10 at weekends) and 9pm because I'm aware of neighbours.

Didimum · 28/05/2024 08:39

It’s not ideal but on a week day I couldn’t get worked up by it.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 28/05/2024 08:40

Not as rude as the bastard who started up a Harley Davidson at 5.30am on Sunday morning 😡

Churchview · 28/05/2024 08:59

People cutting hedges at any time of day during bird nesting season is more annoying than the noise and possibly illegal.

Mothership4two · 28/05/2024 14:18

Well they shouldn't be cutting hedges between March and August anyway.

Maybe it is technically OK to make noise after 7am but it's inconsiderate.
