Worried about my sons social skills

Do young children with slightly behind social skills eventually catch up? My 5 year old son seems so much less mature than those in his year at school.

IM 90% confident there's not an underlying issue. He was an early talker, hit all his milestones when he was supposed to etc. But he's a january baby and his social skills seem a mile away from the October bambinos! On the plus side he is hilarious but just doesn't know when to rein it in ! Walked in during circle time at the end of his cubs class the other day....he was the only one not listening. Hed choosen that moment to share a self penned poo rhyme to the girl next to him. At the top of his voice. 🙄 okay that's funny but this sort of thing happens ALL the time. I've noticed the older kids in his year group are dismissive of him and I really font want his confidence knocked.

Has anyone else been in the same boat and come out the other side? how soon after starting school did this happen? He's my only one so nothing to compare with.

*sigh

The single most meaningful (and true) thing I was told when mine were v young was
'Compare and despair'.
Fits just about any child related scenario ... but especially early years development.
They're all different.
Enjoy, just enjoy 😘.

I think @StrongandNorthern has nailed it.
