Beach picnic on a diet

Due to have dinner on the beach tomorrow-picnic, used to really enjoy them-lots of cheese, baguette, crisps, dips, fruit, wine…but..I’m on a diet 😩determined to stick to it.
Any ideas of lovely, tasty filling things I can pack that won’t make me break it?

Tomato salsa and vegetable crudités
Sugar free jelly
Grilled chicken skewers
Low fat babybel
Salted popcorn

Go on Pinterest or TikTok or whatever and look up fancy salads. I find ones with fruit the most summery and satisfying. Grilled halloumi on watermelon is my favourite at the moment

Make own dips -

  • quark is a good base for garlic dip.
  • natural yogurt and mix mint sauce with it.
  • Thousand island made with quark

My favourite, salade niçoise. Delicious and beachy. You can cane a shitload and still be vaguely healthy. Plus, the tomatoes etc. taste nicer slightly warm than cold from the fridge.

Love pop chips as crisps

Is hummus calorific?

Is hummus calorific?

If you make it right it is Grin

There are lower calorie versions.

Chickatease · 24/05/2024 21:01

I think having set portions is the most important thing. Like portion out the crisps. I could.mindlessly eat a sharing bag of crisps without even noticing

Feelinghappytodaywow · 24/05/2024 21:10

@Chickatease Yes, crisps are my downfall, so can’t really have them at all 😌

Meat and salad options.

I would make it my main meal. I'd have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast and home made veg soup for dinner and enjoy the picnic in between. Unless everyone is going to be eating the substitute food with you, you risk eating yours and picking at theirs afterwards. Minimise your calories by taking a small bag of crisps for yourself. Even the fancy ones are only about 230 calories.
