Is there anyone with employment legal knowledge who can help please?
When I was promoted into my role - taking over from a man - 12 years ago, the boss at the time reorganised the pay and I was paid less for the role than the male doing it had been. I didn't make a fuss because it was a big pay rise at the time.
In the twelve years doing the job my pay has consistently been below the benchmarked salary for my job. This was only rectified this year in April.
I handed my notice in a couple of months ago and work have been recruiting for my replacement. The job was offered to a male who pushed for additional pay. They made an offer that was £5k above my pay and the benchmarked salary that everyone is now supposedly on.
I'm wondering if it is ok for them to do this given I am leaving or whether I have any recourse on pay discrimination grounds as man doing the job have been paid above the benchmarked salary when I was paid below for 12 years?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks
