Neighbours 4am DIY

This morning I was woken up to lots of banging against my wall at 4am to which it is still continuing. Hammering here and there - clearly he is doing something in his bathroom (yes he is single and no it's not that kind of activity)

He's usually very polite and doesn't normally do things in unsociable hours but this is driving me nuts and I am not going to get back to sleep now.

Should I leave it, it's a one off and hope it doesn't happen again

Or talk to him about it and explain that 4am to start doing DIY around the house is unreasonable ?

I think if it’s still happening I’d go and knock on his door now and just say that the work he’s doing is coming to rough the walls and could he wait for a more sociable time. You don’t have to be aggressive about it and hopefully he’ll be mortified and apologetic!

I would leave it if just once, maybe something genuinely needed attention.

The only way I'd approach this if a single incident is to ask if everything was ok.

If it's out of character and that early in the morning, I would assume a leak or some kind of emergency.

Bizarre - is he elderly? Depending on what time you have to get up, I'd knock now to stop it, or later to prevent it reoccurring.

Leak or large spider giving him the run around.

No - prob in his 40's, always us at about 5 to go to the gym. Maybe his shower is leaking or something. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

I think I'd be of the opinion that this is not an activity that is not being done for fun and give him some time to rest before finding out if every thing is ok .
