To ask what you’d wear?

I’ve been asked to be a godmother and the christening is this Saturday which I had forgotten about until today! I had a dress in mind when I was asked at the time but it doesn’t seem right at all now. I am really struggling to find something to wear. I had dd 3 months ago so still have quite a tummy and I’m plus size anyway (18-20) I’m not really into dresses but am struggling to think of other options and really need some ideas?

What is it about the dress that you aren’t sure about?

If you don’t want to wear a dress how about a jumpsuit or wide legged trousers and a top?

What’s your normal style and how formal is the Christening?

But you can wear anything that looks reasonably smart and appropriate to the importance of the occasion.

Do you have a lightweight jacket and some trousers you could wear with it?

Or a shirt / blouse to wear with either trousers or a skirt?

I know these seem obvious combinations - it sounds as if you’re panicking a little; possibly because of your wonderful new preoccupation. You probably do have something acceptable in your wardrobe that is clean and ironed and fits. If nothing fits you currently you are going to have to find the time to visit your local shops (as there’s no time to order anything). Either way, don’t get too stressed about it - you’ll be a godmother for a lifetime, not just for the day.
