To think people should turn up?

Have done a couple of free courses lately and hardly anyone turned up or stayed the course?
In both cases lots of people signed up but no show on the day. 2 out of 9 today.

People are just so casual about things. If I put my name down I go.

If they are free then people think they have no value. Would you have more luck charging a small fee?

Edit to say. Yes they should turn up if they have booked but they have lost nothing if they don't bother.

Unfortunately, if there is no charge people perceive it as having no value. Always better to charge a nominal fee.

But I agree, if I sign up for something I go or if I really can't go I'd let the organisers know.

It's not me.
I go. Others don't turn up.
