I don't know too much about politics, but for those of us living in Scotland, who don't want a Tory government, should we be giving the vote to Labour or SNP? Or someone else?

It depends whether you want to support a bunch of whinging little grievances monkeys who want to tear the UK apart due to their ignorant, bigoted views, or support Labour. Yes Labour won’t do anything too exciting, but they won’t destroy Scotland. Up to you.

Yellowpingu · 23/05/2024 17:46

How would you vote if there was another Independence referendum? Yes then vote SNP, no vote Labour.

LlynTegid · 23/05/2024 17:47

There is not going to be an independence referendum in the next five years. So vote for whoever you think will best represent you in the UK parliament on UK issues.

Or where in Scotland you are, as Lib Dems may be the tactical choice.

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/05/2024 17:48

If your aim is to get the Tories out there’s no point voting SNP because only Labour can actually win a majority in Westminster so voting SNP won’t do much.

Misthios · 23/05/2024 17:48

Anyone best placed to give the SNP a doing. In Westminster elections where I live it’s Lib Dem, in Scottish parliament elections, Labour.

This website might help https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/scotland.html

If you click on your area you can then scroll down and see the liklihood of which party if your wanting to vote tactically. For me I won't vote SNP nor Conservative so next one would be Labour.

Is independence part of your wish list? If so SNP gives you a hope of that ever happening.

for anything else, vote Labour

SocksHeeler · 23/05/2024 17:56

I cannot stand the SNP because I'm sick of them banging on about independence and not actually solving the issues in our country. So my vote is for Labour but I'm a safe SNP Yes area so it'll be useless as always!

HirplesWithHaggis · 23/05/2024 18:01

According to the link, my constituency is predicted 1% Tory, 49% SNP, 50% Labour. I will be voting Alba/ISP/Indy4Indy or if none of those are standing, I will spoil my ballot.

Meggie2008 · 23/05/2024 18:24

Voting SNP in a general election achieves basically nothing in terms of who actually gains power in Westminster

chattyness · 23/05/2024 18:33

I'm not voting SNP again, I'm thinking Alba
