To think our sofa shouldn't injure us

Hi, I purchased a NABRU sofa 2 years ago. The wooden boards that are under the cushions within the covers stick out, and we're catching our feet and legs on them. They're only covered by the fabric (if that makes sense). We bought it 2 years ago. Is there any way of obtaining a refund, or any money back? Or is this too late? We have had so much happen within this time we have put up with it.

I have contacted NABRU who sent somebody out, and they have said this is just the way it is supposed to be.

Is it reasonable to think a sofa shouldn't injure you? It cost over £2000, and I was expecting to keep this for a long time.

I feel really angry at myself that I haven't reported the issue sooner. There has been bereavement, illness, and so many family issues, and we haven't been able to.

Can anybody help?

Thank you.

Any advice is appreciated. Has anybody had the same experience with Nabru? This is the last time I'll buy this kind of sofa, that's for sure.

Is Nabru the company that delivers them flat-packed? If so, we had one, my dd nearly broke her shin bone jumping from one to the other and landing on the mdf in the armrest.

I wouldn't say they're designed to last years, they're a reasonably cheap way to get a big sofa, and not that easy to put together imo. But no, they shouldn't injure you, I'd probably tweet them, no one likes bad publicity and might spur them into action although it has been a while....

I'm not sure how many rights you'd have after two years Confused

I'll avoid that brand. Our ikea sofa has lasted much longer than two years.

@Lovelynames123 yes that's them. I believe it to be an inherent fault. They tried to blame it on how we built it, but I actually paid extra and it was them that put it together. It took the man 3 hours! Over £2000 is down the drain , I don't feel it was cheap, i even paid extra for the storage, which are just 2 boards of mdf. I wish I'd reported it a lot sooner. It has always been this way. It is awful, and so painful when you catch yourself on the wood.

@Etincelle yes we have an armchair and footstool from there that is amazing! I don't like their current sofas as much though for lack of support. We also have a Costco sofa which was half the price of Nabru and it's been great. I curse the day I bought this poem

We have two of them in the kids TV room which is at basement level. Had no choice but to get a Flat pack as couldn't get a normal sofa down the stairway.

They've held up quite well considering the rough treatment they get being used as gymnastic props etc. We've had them 5 years. They are quite hard/firm but not uncomfortable and we haven't injured ourselves on them. The one thing I don't like is how heavy they are. They can't be moved around the room in one piece so we had to take them apart again when the carpet was replaced.

I'm racking my brains as to what's gone wrong with yours. It sounds like they aren't put together right. There shouldn't be hard bits sticking out.

Thanks @honeylulu they sent a man out who checked it all, rejigged it abit, and said it is meant to be that way. It is like the boards that sit under the cushions are slightly too long, so they stick out past the base a little on some seats. It is a U shape as well, so that probably increases our chances further of catching them. DH has told me it is my own fault for buying online without having seen it first, even though he did the same with the last dining table 🙄. The show room isn't anywhere near us, i stil made a huge mistake with this, but I really didn't envision this would be a possibility onba sofa.
