Period Swimwear

I know this isn't an AIBU but the period swimwear questions others have posted on more appropriate boards haven't received responses!
I need some recommendations for period swimwear, bikini / short style for a teenage girl.
Anyone bought some that actually do the job?
My 14 year old has a full on day of water sports coming up this weekend and is on her period.
Will be Day 5 by then so hopefully not too heavy, tampons are an absolute no go for her preference wise.
I've had a look online but most reviews mention 'days at the beach' and not necessarily in the water, these need to be suitable for wearing under a wetsuit all day and be okay with multiple falls into the water.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, I just want her to feel safe and secure whilst she's on the water.
Thankyou

Have you look at the Modibodi swimwear? They seem to have good reviews. I don’t have any of the swimwear, but I do use their normal period pants and they’re great so I imagine the swimwear would be equally good.

My daughter uses a period swimsuit and bikini. Think it was modi bodi. We've had it for a while. If she's wearing it under a wetsuit she'll be absolutely fine. My daughter does beach lifeguarding, nothing gets through those things!

My daughters used Primark ones last year for holidays and they worked find no leaks or issues at all.

Thankyou Ladies
She's always refused to even consider period swimwear before so this is a step forward for her!

I’ve got both modibodi and wuka wear period swimwear and they’re fine. I will also add from experience that bikinis are much easier to use under a wetsuit.

Can you actually swim in them though? Or do you need to get changed after. I can't get my head around how they work. DD is going to have the ame problem when we are on holiday.

This was my thoughts, I need them to actually be good in the water

Yes you can swim in them. DD does 50 length sessions in them. In saying that, there seems to be very little period blood actually comes out in the water. Something to do with the pressure? On hols DD would just change into fresh ones in between so you might need 2 bottoms if on hols.

dd 14 uses Wuka and loves it. She doubles up with a tampon during heavier flows as she wouldn't want to risk of ever leaking when she gets out of the pool for example x

Both DD2 and I have used modibod periods swimwear under swim leggings we had mix of biki bottoms and boyshort styles- spent mornings swimming/submerged in the sea and in and out on beach - so in and out then walked home and they were fine - but haven't done a whole day.

They were much better than expected TBH.

We had multiple versions more for drying - wasn't sure how long or what drying areas we'd have but they dried well in end. We were a bit nervous how they'd hold up but were impressed and wished I'd got them years ago.

My dd has the waka swim suit. It’s amazing.

MathsFiend · 03/06/2025 10:47

My daughter used the modi bodies bikinis and was in the pool with them and no issues. Best to have 2/3 pairs of bottoms to change into

Loveduppenguin · 03/06/2025 10:51

I have just purchased my daughter and modibodi one as she has a School tour based at Aqua Centre next week. I’m still a little bit apprehensive for her as to whether it will work. I don’t want any embarrassing situations once she gets out of the pool but hopefully it will all be good in the pool. If anyone has any other experience of these let us know. ☺️

Another vote for ModiBodi, but delivery can sometimes take a while. If you choose these, pay for next day delivery if you can.
