To be shocked at the amount of aggressive drivers

Inspired by another thread.

In the last year, I have been:

  • rear ended at a junction by a van driver who claimed it was my fault
  • subjected to swearing and verbal abuse whilst on a bike cycling home with my children
  • yelled at for pulling over despite giving clear indication and saying thank you to the driver for inconveniencing him for a nanosecond
  • gesticulated at for reversing into a space
  • gesticulated at for not pulling out in front of another car at a roundabout.

All these people have been white, middle aged men. WTF? I have been driving for 19 years and have never encountered so much aggressive behaviour as I have within the last year. FWIW I'm a good driver, I often get compliments on it in fact.

I'm so sick of impatient, angry male drivers.

YANBU and it's getting worse all the time sadly!

Yes i've noticed too. It's more of a mysogony thing than a bad driving thing though IMO, hence the reason it always seems to be angry males.

Not just aggressive drivers - aggressive people. Growing numbers of people seem incapable of articulating any kind of dissatisfaction without going off the deep end. That, combined with a chronic lack of resilience, is a toxic combination.

For whatever reason it seems to have got worse since the Highway Code revisions which were poorly communicated and have led to a lot of confusion about how cyclists, pedestrians and motorists should behave.

I no longer ride a bicycle due to the distinct feeling a large number of the motorists queueing behind would quite like to kill me.

Agree!

I said this before on another thread but since covid, there has been a very obvious decline in decent human interaction, people seem to have forgotten how behave appropriately towards one another, everyone is impatient, quick to anger etc and it's showing everywhere, on the roads, shops, online.
