For wanting a refund on vinted?

Last week I bought a pair of trainers listed as new condition on vinted. In the description it said "in original box-never worn". However, they arrived very clearly not new. The bottoms looked like they had been wiped but very clearly still mud in the grip. The soles were also worn.

To be clear, second hand running shoes aren't going to work for me. I am flat footed and using shoes that are already worn in can cause huge discomfort and injury. Not to mention, I am a bit funny with feet. Second hand trainers is where I draw the line.

I contacted the seller expecting them to be full of apologies. In fairness she started the response with "sorry", said she had made a mistake but that she would give me £10 off anything else other site. I said I didn't want anything else, but could she send a returns label.

She said the policy on vinted was that buyers pay for returns and tried to convince me to buy something else from her shop with the discount instead. I said given the circumstances I think it would be reasonable for her to cover the cost.

She then started saying how she wasn't a business women, just a kid trying to pay for uni books and I was "having a go at her". I was assertive, but it was absolutely nothing personal. I just wanted my money back. Obviously I felt for her as everyone makes mistakes and the last thing I want is to cause any unnecessary stress. However, what was I supposed to do?

I'm thinking of just paying the postage because it's not worth my time and knowing now that she's a young girl accept that I probably need to be the bigger person.

Am I being a soft touch or have I been had?

You’ve been had and it sucks. Won’t bore you with the details but I had a very similar situation with Vinted. I just kept the item in the end but the seller left me a shitty review, all because I dared to point out that there was a stain 🤷‍♀️

I have had similar with an item not as described. The seller admitted their mistake but wouldn’t pay the return postage. I raised to vinted and all they did was send the T&C’s saying that return postage is paid by the buyer. Definitely puts you off vinted.

I bet you were fuming. It's a shame because Vinted has really good stuff but eBay offers more protection for buyers.

So we have established that this is their policy, so what on gods green earth is this buyer protection if it isn't for situations like this? 🕵️

This is what I'm terrified of, being fairly new on Vinted I don't want bad feedback myself. But my toxic trait is thinking that life should come with a fairness guarantee so I really couldn't help myself when I saw what they had tried to pull🙈

I wouldn't be arsed and just pay the postage.

Vinted’s buyer protection does anything but protect the buyer. I recently bought an item and the seller inadvertently sent me the wrong item. I asked Vinted for advice who said to send it back and I’m responsible for return postage. The seller can refund me (wouldn’t include cost of sending item to me) or send the correct item. So I would be £6 down on postage costs for an item worth less than that

In this case the seller appears to be genuine and I think we will manage to resolve it but this is my first and last transaction with Vinted. EBay goes the other way and only protects the buyer

Vinted have shitty customer service. Last week I received entirely the wrong item, the postage labels had been mixed up somewhere. Seller acknowledged mix up.

Vinted sent me a form to print and fill in, I was away for the weekend at the time without access to a printer. Little did I know I apparently only had 48 hours to return it and now they've closed the case and won't even discuss it except to repeat that it's their policy.

I wasn't aware of the 48 hour thing either until I posted on here.

I just went onto the seller's feedback page and she's had LOADS of negative feedback this week about items not being in the condition described and being strategically photographed to cover up imperfections. And I suppose this is my issue, how Vinted can allow them to carry on ripping people off?

What an absolute arse of a seller to be lying about the condition of multiple items. Before returning the item make sure you go for a long run in the rain without any socks on then wrap the trainers tightly in a carrier bag before boxing them up.

Bloody cheek of her!

LOL, this made me laugh. And it's totally the weather for it 😅
